What is the TryCAN Collaboration?
TryCAN is a collaboration of communities working together to provide recreation and educational programming to children with special needs.

Where can I find a listing of upcoming programs with TryCAN?
View all current programs, camps, events, and more with TryCAN by clicking "Programs & Activities," and "TryCAN" in the top navigation of our website.

Where can I sign up to volunteer with the TryCAN Collaboration?
The Collaboration is always in need of adult and teen Peer Mentors to assist with programs and special events. Please reach out to our Summit TryCAN Coordinator, Kevin Taylor at 908-277-2932 for more information on the latest volunteer opportunities.

Are volunteer opportunities available for young adults as well?
Yes. TryCAN is proud to promote a "kids helping kids" teaching approach through its Peer Mentor Program. This program provides local teens with the opportunity to work alongside special needs youth as they participate in programs or events with the Collaboration.
5.
How do I become a Peer Mentor?
All interested candidates must be ages 13+ and must attend a Peer Mentor training session in order to be eligible to volunteer with the Collaboration.
6.
Are community service hours earned through participation in the Peer Mentor program?
Yes. Credit will be given for community service hours to all those who participate in the Peer Mentor program.
7.
Does TryCAN host special events as well?
Yes. TryCAN hosts a variety of special events throughout the year including Baseball Night Under the Lights and Family Swim at the SFAC.
