Soldiers Memorial Field

Memorial Playground

IT IS FINALLY TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT THE PLAYGROUND AT MEMORIAL FIELD!

With much activity around town, with three different playgrounds underway, our attention shifts to the beloved Memorial Playground. We have already received feedback from the IDEAS classes at both Brayton and Franklin Schools, and we would now like input from the larger community!

In the 2025 Capital Budget, the Common Council approved $200,000 toward the Memorial Playground. Based on feedback received from this survey by August 1, 2026, we will develop a site plan. From August through October, a fundraising campaign will run. At that time, we will decide whether to replace the one main structure as a part of Phase One and request additional funds for Phase Two, or complete the project as a whole.

As a part of the 2021 Playground Master Plan, we want all of our playgrounds to have a different feel. Mabie is 100% inclusive and ADA accessible, our Tatlock playground is nature-based, and the East Summit Playground will be a small neighborhood playground. The goal for the Memorial Playground is to incorporate athletic and obstacle-course-like elements. We want each playground to feel unique.

Please complete the survey so we can develop a plan to see what the Summit community at large would like to see at Memorial Playground.

The Soldiers Memorial Field complex sits on twenty-five acres of land.
