Weekly Specialty Camps
Each summer the Department of Community Programs strives to put together a robust schedule of specialty camps. These camps all run by the week and typically run Monday through Friday, reserving Friday as a raindate in the event the camp is held outside. Offerings include STEAM, Art, Fashion, Pony, Sports, Golf, Drones and more! These specialty camps are all run through third party contractors. Course description: This dynamic and interactive camp offers an introduction to coding, robotics, and engineering through the use of LEGO® Spike Essential Education Robotics Construction Sets. Utilizing sensors and motors, campers work in pairs to build and code models focused on space exploration. This camp incorporates a variety of hands-on STEM activities and team-building challenges. Through building, testing, and problem-solving, young engineers gain confidence while fostering creativity and innovation.

FASHION SUMMER CAMP -THEME EUROPEAN FASHION WEEK

Course description : It's time for our EUROPEAN Fashion Week! In this camp, designers will design a unique jumpsuit or romper for their project.
They’ll also design accessories to complement their fashion runway look. On our final day of class will be a fun fashion show! Our students [Fashion Designers] start with the sketch (croquis), technical details, choosing and rendering the fabric, learning the proper way to make a pattern, including measuring each other, understanding the importance of this process and the fit of the garment. They learn how to pin and sew using a sewing machine. Then, they sew the entire garment including the final fitting. Finally, on the last day of our camp, we hold our Fashion Show. During our fashion summer camp weeks, we add fashion challenges (i.e. Newspaper challenges, trash bag challenges), for our designers to explore their innermost fashion taste and skills.Our designers team up with other designers for this quite unique and fun experience. No sewing experience necessary. All fabric, supplies, and use of the sewing machines are included.

Course description: This engaging and interactive camp introduces children to coding, robotics, and engineering through LEGO® Spike Essential Education Robotics Construction Sets. Course description: Get ready for a week of scientific exploration, mystery solving, and hands-on discovery in the fascinating worlds of biology, chemistry, and forensic science. Campers will start by exploring the amazing human body, getting an up-close look at the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, and muscular systems. The excitement continues as campers take on the role of detectives in a mock crime scene investigation. They'll apply scientific methods like observation and data analysis to sift through clues, using forensic techniques to solve the mystery. But that's not all! Campers will go even deeper into the microscopic world by studying cells. To cap off the adventure, campers will unleash their inner Mad Scientist by diving into the world of chemistry. They'll explore chemical reactions that heat things up, cool them down, and even go "too far"! Science Sleuths is the ultimate science camp for kids who love hands-on learning, solving mysteries, and discovering the magic of chemistry and biology.

Snapology - Creature Creator Robotics

Course description: In Snapology's Creature Creator program, your animal lover will build a variety of robotic creatures that respond to each of their programmed commands. While working with a partner to solve various challenges, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges. It's going to be a RAWR-ing good time!
