Field Hockey LEAGUE

This year the Summit Department of Community programs is excited to bring our Field Hockey Program back for its fourth year!


Players between 2nd and 8th grades of all levels of experience from beginners to advanced players are guaranteed team positions.


We will participate in the Mid Jersey Youth Field Hockey League. Our focus is on fun, friendships and field hockey (in that order!). Our season begins after Labor Day and run until late Oct/early Nov.


PRACTICES: 

Grade 2-4 - TBA

Grade 5-6 - TBA

Grade 7-8 - TBA 


Potential practice times will be Mondays from 7-8:30 (Upper Tatlock); Wednesdays 7-8:30 (Upper Tatlock); Thursdays 7-8:30 (Upper Tatlock); Saturdays (5-6:30)

For the Grade 2-4 division there will only be one practice per week

For the Grade 5-6 division there may be one or two practices per week


GAMES: Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings


All players in 2nd through 6th grades are required to have a Summit Field Hockey Uniform. A uniform kit includes Jersey and Skirt.

Please purchase socks separately.

SPECIAL NOTE: Please sign up if you are interested in coaching. This year, there is a new policy requiring all coaches to be finger printed prior to the start of the season.

Parents List to Purchase (not included in registration):

  • All players MUST have a well fitted mouth guard in order to participate in any game or practice, including goalies. Mouth Guards should be worn at times.
  • All players will need a regulation field hockey stick.  Tip for new players: don't purchase an expensive new stick.  Look to borrow one, find one used or purchase a less expensive beginner package. 
  • All players will need shin guards.  Players can use the larger style shin guards or smaller soccer style.

Spring 2026 Field HoCkey League Info Coming Soon

Calling all Grade 6/7/8 Field Hockey Players!

This year we will be introducing a new spring field hockey league.

Practices begin Monday, March 24. Games start being played on Sunday, April 6. League games conclude on May 18.

Home Games will be Sundays from 4-6pm and Practices will be Mondays from 6-7 or 6:30-7:30 (depending on sunset time). Most away games should also be held on Sundays. 

Join us to continue learning skills and developing field hockey play abilities.

Grades: 5th - 8th (Grade as of Fall 2024)

Experience Level: New and Experienced Players

Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Location: Upper Field, Summit High School

Program Description: This field hockey clinic is designed to support both new, and experienced players.  We will develop field hockey skills while learning how to become more effective leaders on the field, and learn what it means to be a great teammate.  Each session will feature drills and games designed to teach basic skills to new players, and advanced skills to experienced players.  Each day will end with scrimmages so players can practice what they've learned.

Dates: Session 1 - June 17 - 21, Session 2 - June 24 - 28

Fees: $100 per week.   (Attend both weeks for $175.)

Teachers: Alicia Mulé (LCJSMS Field Hockey Coach) and Laura Sankowich (Summit 5/6 Grade Coach) with assistance from former and current players from Summit High School.
